Produce¶
Framework Stage: Produce
Production is where raw expertise becomes media. It covers three distinct phases — each with different tools, skills, and output standards.
The Three Phases¶
RecordCapture · Sources · Formats
Rough CutOBS · Real-Time · Layouts
MasterPolish · Export · Deliver
| Phase | What Happens | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Record | Capture raw source recordings of each participant. Remote or in-studio. Individual isolated tracks per person. | Raw video files (1 per participant) + raw audio tracks |
| Rough Cut | Real-time production in OBS Studio. Assemble the show with layouts, lower thirds, transitions, graphics, and dual H/V output — during the session or immediately after. | Rough cut horizontal (16:9) + rough cut vertical (9:16) |
| Master | Post-production polish. Final color, audio leveling, cleanup, export to deliverable formats. | Mastered horizontal video, mastered vertical video, mastered audio (podcast) |
Why Three Phases¶
Most production companies blur these together. A single editor gets raw files and does everything — recording cleanup, assembly, graphics, color, audio, export. That is slow and expensive.
Separating into three phases creates specialization:
- Record optimizes for capture quality and reliability
- Rough Cut optimizes for speed and creative production (real-time in OBS)
- Master optimizes for polish and deliverable standards
