What It Is¶
Transcript optimization is the practice of publishing episode transcripts in a format that AI systems can parse, index, extract answers from, and cite back to your source URL.
A raw auto-generated transcript is not optimized. An optimized transcript is cleaned, structured, speaker-identified, timestamped, and published on a canonical URL with proper markup.
Why It Works¶
Your podcast episode is an audio file. AI systems cannot listen to audio. The transcript is the only text representation of your expertise. If the transcript is messy, buried in a collapsed accordion, or missing entirely, your content does not exist in the AI search layer.
An optimized transcript turns 45 minutes of expert conversation into a structured, indexable knowledge document that AI systems can mine for answers for years.
Optimization Requirements¶
1. Speaker Identification¶
Every line must attribute the speaker by name, not "Speaker 1."
**Sarah Chen:** The biggest mistake B2B teams make is treating their podcast like a marketing campaign instead of a media property.

Break the transcript into logical paragraphs and sections. Never publish as a wall of text. AI systems parse section boundaries to extract discrete answers.

When Not To Use¶
Always publish transcripts. The only exception is legally sensitive content that cannot be made public. Even then, publish a structured summary with key Q&A instead.
